Bought New Plastic Storage Bins. They have a Weird Smell.?

I bought two big plastic storage bins at the Dollar General Store. The bins are made by Sterilite.
When I got them home I notice a funny smell coming from them. It’s not a nasty or dirty smell, it smells like maybe bakery food was stored in them. I like the bins and the price was right, that why I would like to keep them.
Any suggestions as to how to remove the smell.
All good answers to all. Thank you for stopping by to answer.

The smell you are noticing is probably the lubricant that is used on the molds from which the bins were made. A simple wash and rinse with dish soap will most likely remove it.
If there is still some odor remaining after washing, wipe the surfaces down with distilled white vinegar and allow the bins to air-dry outside (the vinegar smell will dissipate). If you STILL smell something (I hope not by this point!), set a shallow plate or bowl of baking soda in each bin and cover them for a day or 2.
Use Fabuloso. It is a great cleaner that I love to use and it smells great and gets the job done. But it will make your bins smell better and look better (if they are dirty.)
Wash out the bins with a soapy water, rinse good and let air dry outside in the sun. Then take a sniff if you still smell it take some newspapers and crumple them up and fill the bins with that. Put the lids on them and let them set for a day. Then take the newspapers out and sniff again the smell should be gone. If it’s not then repeat the thing with the newspapers until it is.
